Thanks Red. Rain has stopped here. Windy as for the next 3 days although Shute Harbour should be well sheltered for us and there is also Faust.

Well had a crack at the mangroves around shute harbour today. Such a likely looking spot. Ended up with a nice jack that fell to a 110 slicky in drop bear. I can smell him cooking now yuuuummmmm.
Went out and did the island fringing reefs for a couple of hours and hooked up quite a few of the usual undersized suspects including what I think was a venus tusk fish.
Anyhow we are back for more tomorrow.

Nice work mate. I think I know the creek you are talking about. Another spot you could try is the little creek in the middle of down town Airle beach. I remember reading a report years ago about it holding a heap of big jack at high tide.

Thats my first jack for over 10 years. Going back today and trying the smaller slickie in drop bear. I have a theory that the noise of the big slickie may be scaring a few when it hits the water. Got this one dragging it past a small group of mangroves, and I had cast it 10m past it. Didnt get a touch throwing it right under the mangroves.

Good work old boy! I'm quite jealous!! My backyard looks likely at the moment, big drop off retainer wall, rocky bottom, overhanging strawberry plants... should be looking around there!
