    Default My first lure whiting!

Went for a late flick this morning water is very brown and horrible even at the mouth of mooloolah river. Still managed a couple of fish 25ish cm bream and a couple of rat pike. Hooked upto what I'm pretty sure was a cod but was shaking around too much and i couldn't do anything and it threw the hooks.

On my way home I saw a patch of water that looked flat as and I've never fished before so I thought I might as well try. Couple casts in I hooked upto some on the chubby for the first time I couldn't tell what it was even when I saw it it didn't look like a whiting. Finally had it near enough to the shore to grab my leader and get it on the bank. My First whiting on a lure and a PB at the same time. Stoked

I sat it on my rod to try and work out a size. Measured my rod when i got home to roughly 38cm.

Nice Whiting. Well done whiting can be a finiky fish.

Well done mate, beware the whiting on lure addiction. I discovered the joy of whiting on lure a year or so ago and I love it more than any other type of fishing nowadays, particularly on popper. Awesome fun.

Well done mate. I fished the Mooloola yesterday, from Minyama out the mouth and back again.
It was like trying to fish in mud soup. The worst I have seen it.
Couldn't use a surface lure due to the amount of floating crap on the edges.
Gulps were the only things that got a hit.
The water in that first pic sure does look inviting.
