They are top eating.The silver frosting can be wiped off.Cut them crosswise into steaks and shallow pan fry.They used to be thick in places like Coal and Candle creek in the Hawkesbury system and around half tide rocks at the entrance to Brisbane Waters at Woy Woy but you don't hear much about them these days.Hope they show up down our way this year.Not much seems to be known about their life cycle - they just come and go.The spcimens you are catching seem to be much smaller than the average we used to get down here.Maybe they breed up north and grow rapidly before they reach us.

waratah bay used to be a top spot for them mick. i already spoke to a mate and we're gonna rug up and anchor up for a night this winter to see if they're still turning up

They make for some pretty good eating - just cut them into portions & fry em up .......... good tucker

Heard that they were a delicacy to people down south but they are like a wolfie, all slimy and I can't get over the slime.
The use them for mack bait here.
