    Default Chasing Lizards

Went down to the local (North Pine River) yesterday afternoon, for a quick couple of hours fishing. Wind was blowing a gale, and the current was flying at a great rate of knots.

Anyhow the first hour or so we headed near the bridge, where trying to hold position on the leccy was quite hard, well near impossible actuall, so we headed into a side creek, hoping that we could escape the wind and current.
The creek was only about 0.5-1m in depth.

I decided to tie on a Reaction Strike 3.5" Mullet in Natural Shrimp colour and my mate tied on the same lure but in a Two Penny colour. About 4 casts in my mate hooks up, i asked him whether it was any good, and he replied don't think so, well that was until it worked out is was hooked, about 6 attempts to put it in the net later, a nice 65cm lizard.

Well as i am sure all good fishos do, i straight away swapped my lure to his lure and about 2 casts with it and only a matter of 20m further up the bank, i was on. The little Daiwa Fuego 2000 spooled with 6lb braid and 8lb leader and Shimano T-curve 2-5kg rod buckled over on this fish. After a good 15 minutes and a lot of patience landed a nice 63cm flattie. I am still suprised that the light gear actually held up to the fish.

Overall it was worth the trip out. Forgot to add that these lizards were part of the CPR program
