    Default No fish here

Been talking to a few visiting anglers and they were complaining that there were no fish left in the system.

Have been busy getting things ready for the local fishing competition this week. Thought we better put the boat in and check to see, how the system was holding up.

Just a couple hours spare this afternoon, launch boat at ramp then flicked a few plastics for a half hour. Just a couple of small ones.

Time to pump some yabbies with the grandkids coming down. Down to the yabbie banks, OOPS no pump. Back to little beach at end of street. Pauline walked up to house and got pump. Back up to yabbie banks, about three to four yabbies per hole (4 pumps per hole), didn't take long to get our limit. We metho and freeze the yabbies for grandkids, save pumping all the time when they are here.

Back up river, to a favourite stretch of water, casts a few squidgies, for about three quarters of an hour. Just a few hits and small stuff. Change squidgies to the old Silver fox. First cast 58cm Flathead, Pauline decided that she better have a cast or two herself, second cast a 60cm Flattie.

Thought that will do us, back to the ramp, back up, drive home, wash boat clean gear, and sitting down and having a drink not bad and under three hours.

Guess that the best part of living where we do.

17TH Annual Putt Bennett Family Fishing Festival from 6 to 8 Jan at Mylestom. Just putting the finishing touches to the prizes. 80 plus prizes, plus about 40 Rods and Reels in a random draw, 10 each day including sign-on on Thursday.

Nice to put some runs on the board for 2012

    Greg,
Don't think I will have time for a fish during the comp, two weigh-ins each day plus random rod draws each night. Seems to keep us pretty busy.

Usually between 580-640 competitors, they tend to keep one pretty busy.

Last year only fished for three hours very early Friday and still one Masters Flathead.

In NSW you are allowed to keep a flathead over 70cm, but in our comp for the last 9 years, you have to bring them in the catch n release section (Bream, Whiting, Flathead). Also only one fish per species per day. About 60% fish caught are in catch n release. Extra points and prizes for catch n release. Special prizes for kids for also (Medals) and other prizes.

Been doing the Condition and Rules now for 10years and it all seems to work. But keep saying each year, that this is my last.

But its great to see the kids faces when they sign on and get a free rod and reel and showbag. Then looking around over the three days and seeing them fishing.

Its just a family comp and very good for the community.

Nice one Trev and Pauline. The Nicholls family will not be fishing the comp this year unfortunately, busy getting the house in order for first open, next weekend.
It's a great family comp for those that are interested, well run and organised.

We will miss you all Pete, wish you all the best with the open house.

A quick sale would be great.

Will catch up in the next few weeks.
