Been talking to a few visiting anglers and they were complaining that there were no fish left in the system.
Have been busy getting things ready for the local fishing competition this week. Thought we better put the boat in and check to see, how the system was holding up.
Just a couple hours spare this afternoon, launch boat at ramp then flicked a few plastics for a half hour. Just a couple of small ones.
Time to pump some yabbies with the grandkids coming down. Down to the yabbie banks, OOPS no pump. Back to little beach at end of street. Pauline walked up to house and got pump. Back up to yabbie banks, about three to four yabbies per hole (4 pumps per hole), didn't take long to get our limit. We metho and freeze the yabbies for grandkids, save pumping all the time when they are here.
Back up river, to a favourite stretch of water, casts a few squidgies, for about three quarters of an hour. Just a few hits and small stuff. Change squidgies to the old Silver fox. First cast 58cm Flathead, Pauline decided that she better have a cast or two herself, second cast a 60cm Flattie.
Thought that will do us, back to the ramp, back up, drive home, wash boat clean gear, and sitting down and having a drink not bad and under three hours.
Guess that the best part of living where we do.
