probably less stressful if you stick to fishing

Will be heading down to Coomera tonight upstream and landbased. Want to stay clean so will persist with lures and SP. Hopefully I will have something decent to write about tomorrow

I know what it is Dids. Quite simple really.

You're fishing the wrong areas at the wrong time.

I picked up a 40ish cm jack this morning throwing poppers for whiting on 4lb braid. Sent him back to grow some more. Also scored a 1.2m shark on the same rod and a plastic a bit later on.

There's a lot of things to take your mind off the fishing there (but that's another story), all lure work. Finished 1am with out a hit from anything. Couldn't go past the Coomera on the way home feeling the way I did so stopped at the M1 bridge ramp and launched. Had a chat at the ramp to another regular who said he was also having a bad year, then a bait fisho comes in with a dead horse Jack, which I measure on my mat for him, 60cm . Ok so there out there.
Fished till 6am, for 1, 36cm jack on a livie (and a cat fish).. This is my worst run in 10 years, what's happening? I think I got 2 or 3 back in Sept/Oct and now a 36cm pup!If there is such a thing as mojo, and I ever had it, it's left the building. There's a lot of time to think when your out there all night.

Time for a major rethink in my fishing . Bass? Less fishing and more travel to Barra? I know what your thinking Ffej, but I think those big sharks like the hobie mirage drive fins. CV I fished the top of Glasshouse creek afew weeks back for not a touch too, and I don't really want to invade your honey hole, although I think I know the area you frequent .

Could be time to give the fishing up and follow my other dream and start a modeling agency for wayward young ladies.

    Cheers boys.
That's a big effort Dids, I can feel your pain! But I reckon you should stick to fishing and not the other dream.

I've only done one jack session this summer for one smoking. I can't seem to clear my schedule enough to get a crack atm

I've thought about this one over night Ffej, I think its got merit. Living an hours drive from decent water, I fish time allows, so its a random draw. What I need to do is keep a diary of trips, tides, moons, ect. and become a lot more technical and a lot better fisherman. There is as much to learn from these slow trips as the good ones.

Im in the same boat Dids, can only fish when an opportunity arises, so grab it regardless of conditions, tides, times etc
I used to keep a comprehensive log when I fished a lot outside, and it certainly helps year to year

Went for a quick flick last night at Coomera and also check out a few new spots (Thanks again, Andrew). Got a tiny bump on my surface walker (probably from an over zealous mullet) but other than that, could not raise a scale. Tide was wrong but the new spots looked very fishy. Will probably arm myself with a couple of livies and bait when I hit it the next time.

    Glen,
low tide at Southport, plus 60-90mins to work out low for that pipeline spot.
Then fish the last 2 hrs of runout before low tide.
Give it a miss til the rain settles down tho.

    cheers
    Andrew
