A couple of weeks ago, Pedro rang and wanted to test out Funchy's passage. We picked today for the early morning high tide so we could get deep into his territory. Headed up the highway at 4.30am, running into rain about Roys rd, all the way to Caloundra.
Rain had stopped by the time I met Pete at the ramp and we set sail about 5.45am. Wind was about 10/15 from the SW. Headed into the inner sanctum of Funchy's secret passage and set up for our first drift. About 4 casts in and I nailed a mid 40's flatone for Pete's dinner tonight.
Over the next 3 hours the wind picked up to around 30/35 from the SE. I got 1 more flatone which was about 15cm and Pete dropped one mid fight. We headed back up to where I caught the first one and pete nails another mid 40's flatty, mission accomplished, a feed for Pete and his better half. With the tide dropping, it was time to head out back into the main chanel. Talk about the wind blowin' a dog off the chain. We persisted till around 11am and headed back in.
Thanks again Pedro, another great day on the water, albeit a tad breezy. Fishin' with mates and fish are a bonus. Happy days.
