gidday all,
hit my local estuary up this arvo with dave (dave0 in search of my first jack for the season. 2 weeks ago i took my brother to the same place and put him onto his first jack so with the 29 degree predicted temp today expectations were high!
we hit the water about 1pm and made our way to our spot trying a few places along the way for only 1 flatty. after about half an hour my 4inch zman swimmer is smashed and im onto my first jack of the season. measured in at 39cm and i was a very happy man. about another half an hour passed without a touch so we changed tactics slightly and were rewarded with 3 more jacks in the space of 13 mins! all between 33 and 39cm. it was a matter of casting to a snag and we would get a couple of touches. then cast back in and wait for it to be hammered! she was hectic for a while there. the boat was a mess when we finally decided to pull the pin just on dark. what an opening session for the jack season! did i mention im bloody pumped!!!
cheers, aaran.
