Had every intention of getting out off Brays on the weekend but the wind and social engagements conspired against me so I settled for drifting around in the passage over some of my favourite spots. Saturday saw me launching at 3:30am in winds that were high enough to be uncomfortable but not high enough to turn me home. Tide was on the run in and I fished a couple of hours of the run in and a couple more of the run out. I had mixed success with a few flattys falling to 3 & 4 inch Gulp minnows as the sun came up. Most just on legal or just under. Then around 8am I got a nice 58cm fella for the table.
Sunday I slept in and didn’t get on to the water until 4:15am New moon was getting closer, wind had dropped a bit and a carbon copy tide profile. Scored a nice 31cm bream which went back along with a few more cookie cutter flatties like yesterday. Around 9am as the tide had turned and there was a bit of run in the outgoing flow I picked up another 58cm flatty. Using 6lb Nanofil and 8lb leader he gave me some fun in the 40cms of water I hooked him in. The leader was rubbing on his gob and I nervously netted him after some anxious moments. Got busted up by a couple more before I headed in.
All in all a nice weekend on the water. I have next week off so hopefully will get out every day (as long as the bomb thrower agrees )
