Default PB Flatty on new SP rig.

I'm going through a bit of an 'artificials' phase at the moment and have added another inexpensive pre-paired combo to the collection. I know I should really just bite the bullet and spend the money on a quality med spin and med/heavy BC set but..... maybe after I get the boat..

Anyway- hopping prawn SPs down at the local has seen some good results lately and a PB Flatty was as good a way as any to christen the new rig.

I'm not catching as many fish as I did with bait... but it's a new challenge and, to be honest, they're generally of better quality. The artificial option also sees me wasting less time on bait collection/tiddlers/snags etc.

I've also been using Zman 3" Prawns in Rootbeer/Gold, which got me connected to a respectable Jack today. Unfortunatly, he did a U-bolt into oyster covered rocks and took me off at the leader.

But long story short- yeah... I'm coming around to the Placcy phenomenon!

*Should also say that this was one of the rare ones I took home for a feed (over 40/under 75cm).

    Nice lizard Alex...

And welcome to the darkside! I haven't used bait since 2007!

    Cheers

Good stuff Alex. Artificial can be a lot of fun. Balance that with bait fishing and you will get the best of both worlds. Ho did the flat one taste? How do you prepare yours mate?

Dont bust a hump about throwing heaps of dollars at the gear Alex, my estuary SP out fits are cheaper end combos, they live a hard life, give em a wash and oil after use, they do the job just fine, and no where near as pain full if you drop them in the sand or mud.
Good to see the artis working for you, I think its a confidence thing more than anything else, you'll work out your favourites, and it just goes from there.
    Nice flatone mate

    Cheers Guys,
Not a response there that I can't relate to!

And how good is AA? I reckon I would have biffed SPs after the first pack of Squidgies if it weren't for 'foruming'. Nothing wrong with going with what you know of course.. but would have missed out on a cracking little facet of the game.

Filleted, skinned, pin-boned, seasoned and shallow fried, Funchy.
Was after the taste last night, so I didn't flour the portions. A touch of lemon juice and just a sprinkling of finely chopped parsley and garlic chives from the garden.
Truly forgot just how much meat per fish you get off those suckers!
    Alex.

nothing better than fresh flatty I reckon.
Platics, just another string to ya bow mate. I actually reckon a smart lure thrower and a smart bait fisher have a lot in common when it comes to the where, when and why parts, its just the presentation on the end that differs

You're a thinking man Brian.. and that' why I loves ya!

Nah, totally agree. Flexibility is something I'm working on.. I.e, knowing when to switch from the oft employed prawn SP to the HB during sub-surface Barra boof conditions.

A clip is an option, but I do like that perfection loop.
