new sounder instillation

Hi guys just got me a new HDS 10 lowrance havnt fitted it yet still patting it beside the bed.I have read the instillation instructions but still a bit confused as the best way to wire it , On the power cable their is a yellow wake up wire for accessories is this wire the best way to power up the black box. Should I put a switch in as well to beable to turn the structure scan [black box] off while still running the sounder/gps combo ,ive herd the black box draws a bit of power. Any help or information Thanks Dave

Would think the screen is the biggest power draw?

Found a setting on my 12 the other day that turned off the back lighting for the Lowrance name on the sounder
