    You're right Vet about the question.

    24v using 2 x 12v batteries will mean extra storage space and extra weight.

    Might be of value to consider any advantages that might be on offer for a single deep cycle 24v battery.

    If going 24v then the only other bit of advice that I can give is to be careful of the usual claims that " marine batteries are deep cycle batteries".

    They're not. They're a compromise between cranking and deep cycle. Sometimes referred to as hybrid.
