i have been doing a lot of exploring of late into different areas of the bay trying diff methods for flatty ,i knew hard bodies and placcies work but decided to work odd areas for them ,lots of flats with no runoff just tidal flow but scatterings of structure such as coffee rock, weed and coral patches, using prawn imitations, the usual method i use is larger hops with these placcies but have recently been doing tiny hops of around 100mm in two hop sequence, then pause .the hook up rate has been outstanding and so many more.i tried using long shank 4/0 heavy duty gamakatzus for placcies instead of the standard ,and these too have been ultra successful in the hookup ratiowith the hook being a bit closer to the tail.went out today as it was forecast 5 knots but as usual the wind wasnt kind early . this however too is a help in not spooking the fish in shallow water allowing the boat to idle along and slop about without too much detenction on the flats.found good numbers of fish in two areas with the best being around 600 and many over 500.i used the berkley 3 inch shrimps and ecooda 89mm live shrimps .both worked just as good.hope this might help a few others find a few flathead .Attachment 33556Attachment 33557Attachment 33558Attachment 33559the last pic is an old one showing the gulp shrimps
