    Default Coonar Creek

    G'Day all

It was as windy as anything here on Sunday so my eldest son and I chucked the canoe in Coonar Creek and paddled/dragged it all the way down the the mouth for a bit of exercise. Lots of fun but being such a small and shallow creek there is very little in the way of decent sized fish to be caught.
We finished up with a couple of small bream and a handful of tiny flatties.
Successful lures included: Rio's prawns, Prawnstars, Eyeball Tail Soft plastics, Rebel Teeny Deep Crawdads and Trollcraft Crawdaddys (size 0).

Nice looking creek you've got there.
Too bad that they are small, but I bet you there were worse things that you could have been doing.

    Cheers Nath
It's not about the fish, it's about fishing!

Definately a nice little area, would be top early in the morning.

Nothing like a little popper being worked around this area....

Nice looking creek there, with cover on the far bank and sand "flat" on the other. Any swamp geckoes?

No mud geckos here. Bundy is a bit far south. With global warming however, who knows what the future will bring (VBG!)

Tried poppers and had a couple of follows from whiting but no hookups.
Unfortunately the water looks a lot better than it fishes. Generally it is very shallow and most fish are on the small side.
I only fished it because it was too windy to put in anywhere else.
We had originally intended to canoe across the Burnett River and fish a little lagoon between the Burnett and Skyringville but 30 kt winds soon put paid to that.

I know what you are saying buddy. There are a number of areas in heavily populated creeks around Innisfail that 'should' mean fish but, produces nothing.

    Cheers buddy
