Default Great Sandy Straits after the rain

    Hi guys,

After a fair stint away from home I'm hoping to get some fishing in during early March and was thinking of heading up the straits chasing some flathead and crabs but I'm feeling a little concerned all the fresh will shut things down for several weeks.

Would it be worth targeting flathead? Would the area south of the Mary River fish better due to the majority of the fresh running out into Hervey Bay?

    Thanks

All I got is the Mary had a flood warning. Chewy or Al would know more

Maryborough has had a hell of a lot Al,there'll be a fair bit coming down from above Maryborough as well. When were you coming up Shauno? Early March starts Wednesday lol. Down the Straits you should be good though, keep your eyes posted for debris.

The rains supposed to be gone from tomorrow Shaun,so you should be good down there. They're catching good fish on the arti so the water quality isn't affecting it too much.

Tinana weir is still 80 Cm over and The mary barrage a metre or so. Still a lot of water coming from Gympie atm. It will clear but I’d be looking over the island creeks and ungowa.
