Met up with MSB (Ron) and TackleBuster at Donnybrook this morning for a little bait soaking exercise. Glorious morning which prompted a discussion with others at the ramp about how good the weather was and what a fine day it would be. Best laid plans etc etc.
The challenge for the day was to put Gary onto his first ever Pomadasys argenteus or even a Pomadasys kaakan. Gary was of the belief that they didn't exist and he expected to catch a unicorn before the much sought after grunter.
Second target for the day was for Ron to show us around some of his favourite spots in the area - a grand and much appreciated gesture.
So fish we did - with great success. We moved through a number of spots with a constant stream of fish coming to the boat. Bream, grunter, rays and a weird thing that Ron called a ponyfish. Only a few keepers, but good fun nevertheless. And yes, Gaz caught grunter. Crappy photo in the rain.

He also lost the fish of the day which took a blistering run a was suspected to be a squire/lizard/jew/white pointer.
Weather became a problem as the morning progressed. We got soaked a few times as wind got steadily worse.

Pulled the pin after about 5 hours of very satisfying fishing.
Thanks for the company guys, and a big thanks to Ron for the effort he put in to share his spots and provide such a good morning on the water.
