Default Ningi Creek Fishing Report No 3

    Morning Everyone

Went fishing with the Grandson up Ningi and decided we would give the whiting a rest and chase a few bream for a change, pumped plenty of yabbies in quick time and settled in to fish a shallow gutter on the northern side of the 3rd red beacon after entering the creek, tide was making and fishing in 1 metre of water. Small bream and large tooth flounder kept us busy for about an hour until the bigger fish moved in with the tide, ended up with a half dozen keeper bream between 30cm and 32cm, plus a nice buck sandy on a crab line, just enough for a good feed for three of us.

Highlight of the morning though was seeing the young bloke hook into a 60 - 65cm tarpon (didn't measure him) on 3kg mono and 1 to 3kg Uglystik, took him 10 minutes to get him to the boat for a quick photo and release him unharmed, tarpon was a bit unlucky to be hooked in the top lip with a No 1 hook and be in clear water with no chance of cutting him off on anything, still was proud of how the young bloke kept calm and played the fish very well.

Couple of pics attached of the crumbed bream and tarpon prior release, apologies up front for the pics being arse about, cant get if sorted.

Good stuff mate. I love your rough locations. Shallow gutter northern side at the 3rd beacon. Keep up the reports mate. Always a good read.

And that’s what fishing’s about. Few fish, good day and heaps of smiles.
