Default A minor success against the odds. Pumice Stone Passage

We have not been fishing in the boat for 2 years (embarrassing) but got her out today for what we hope will be the first of many regular fishing expeditions in the Pummy Passage.

We started later than was ideal...our daughter, son in law and grandson visited for our traditional New Years Day pancakes, delicious without doubt BUT it meant we didn’t hit the water until about 1:15pm.

OMG...that is apparently a terrible time to be on this stretch of water on a public holiday. Boats and jet skis by the hundred, all having a great time but it was a bit insane to be honest.

None the less, we got alongside a few drop offs and weed banks and managed to pull in a couple of flatties on our brief fishing trip, before deciding that future expeditions will be at sun rise not mid day!!

Obviously this is not much to brag about BUT it felt so good to have a nice eating-size flatly on the 2kg line after so long not fishing.

Not a great photo (didn’t notice it was over-exposed when I took it).

You were out on the water enjoying the time, and catching a nice flattie. Got to be a win in my book. Great start to the new year.

Nice to see you on the water, was that you opposite Bells Creek around 1:30pm.
I was out about the same time, we were actually meant to be adjusting my brothers trailer rollers, after the second dunking and the boat was starting to come off easier I wanted to do another adjustment however he said let's go fishing instead. So we went for a flick and got a couple of flatties and a small GT on the change of the tide, the wind and all the boat traffic seemed to keep them a bit quiet and trying to avoid the million crab pots. Was going to head out early this morning but got visitors last night and they decided to stay over, should have gone out as they're still in bed.
