    Default Day with the boy

So my eldest boy has been pestering me to take him fishing for a while now which is great to see he was interested. I made a deal with him when he can swim the length of the pool where he does lessons I’ll take him out in the boat. So just before Christmas he completed his side of the bargain. It was time for me to live up to my end. We put inat manly and went for drive across to green island had a swim on the beach and caught nothing. To keep him interested we went across to the port of Brisbane to check out the ships which he was wetting his pants about. We went back in to the marina at manly found a quiet spot ear the rocks wall and got a little burley trail going. Well we had a constant stream of fish for an hour and a half or so. The little fella had the time of his life catching some little tackers. He hooked up a nice sized catfish which give him a bit of a run around. He give up on that and give me the honours on that. It’s going to be hard to get the boat out with out him coming along now I think.

Now you've gone and done it.
Just wait til the other kids are old enough and want to go.
I had 5 kids and a wife... and more than a few friends.... all keen as mustard to get a seat in my little tinny.
Never fished alone again for many years. Lol. Arguments and tears and tangles aplenty.

But great to see regardless. All my kids (all grown now) are very keen anglers with boats of their own.... (some shared).
No regrets whatsoever. And heaps of fond memories for them and me.

    Good luck. Lol

    Cheers
    Gurn

Yeah cheers all. It’s a cliche but it was the best day I’ve had on the water. I’ve caught all manors of fish from marlin and sailfish to Barra and salmon and bream. All great moments but taking and teaching your own kids about boating and fishing is really satisfying.

live only got 2 kids gurn so it shouldn’t be too hectic. My boys are real active and love being out and “helping” me out. Can’t wait to get out again with the eldest and it will be. Another 18 months before the little fella is about the age to a decky.
