Bream chasing addict of tackle and all things fishy...
Went down again last night-evening, to see if I could get me a few scalies for bait. (Scalies-Bit like a Pilchard but tougher)There were hundred of people down there fishing, but very little except for a few blowies were being caught. After a bit of berley and a bit of time the scalies turned up for a lucky few. Another fisho near me was getting them two or three at a time, but I only managed one or two at a time occasionally. They didn't stay on the bite for long but I got enough to keep me happy. After that I tried for Tarwhine again and managed to get enough for dinner tonight. No runs on the big lines for me but did see one smallish Ray caught, maybe 10-15kilos or so.
So another nice nights fishing down good old Freo again.
Cheers Danny
Nice report Daniel,
obviously you arent setting your livies for rays, curious to find out what species were you targetting? Jewies, GT's ?? Sorry, havent done much homework on WA. Would love to see a piccy once you do get one.
Daryl
If you are berlying up for the slimeys, a technique that used to work well for us was to soak some red-meat (we used roomeat, but ox-heart would work as would steak I'm sure) chunks is a mix of tuna oil and pollard, then put 2-3 hook on a lightly weighted line or under a float if possible. Cast that into your berley area and we'd often get all 3 hook taken immediately.
Nice catch there Danny, them silvers look fat!
