I had really good success on the run out tide last year....where the tide would run out strong and the whiting were holding in the one spot probably waiting for a passing feed. They were really agressive at this stage of the tide...it was hit and grab or miss out. I have had some good sessions on the run in also as like Jeff said the fish move out across the banks.
