Default Welcome to Egrell Rods

Good Afternoon All,

I am very pleased to have onboard the Active Angler vibe Eric and Deb from Egrell Designz who are rod builders based at Bribie Island - Queensland.

After spending around 1 hour chatting to both Eric and Deb there is no questions about the expertise and knowledge Eric has building rods. As mentioned in the Tackle Talk section, Eric has built rods for the big boyz of the industry and has decided to go out on his own and provide quality rods.

We are pleased to have Egrell Designz on board and you will see Eric and Deb will certainly assist in answering any questions you have about rods etc under the username of 'The beaR'. Eric is also a soft plastic guru and will certainly assist fellow members with questions in the massive soft plastic bream fishery still dominant in Australian waters.

So please welcome Eric and Deb to Active Angler Australia and we will be sure to get some piccies of there rods up on the site pronto.

Regards

Active Angler Crew.

Can you tell us what type of guides, grips etc you put on your Rods?

Hi Hypertackle

In answer to your query the guides that we use have been selected after many months of research and testing. They are a titanium coated stainless steel frame with silicon inserts that are very lightweight in comparison to others on the market. All of this contributes to the better performance of the rod.
The Grip material is made of all cork which I shape here on Bribie to my own specific dezign. The grips are made to fit the hand for maximum feedback and to reduce fatigue.
As you will notice the whole grip is cork including the reel seat which enables us to fit the grip to the blank increasing the sensitivity of the grip as no packing is needed. All of the reel seats we use are all graphite reel seats that we buy direct from the USA.
We have just taken the photo below as the grips are hard to describe. We will be putting more photos up on the site as soon as available along with a bit more information about the rodz.
The top one is the B6-L , a 6-10kg double handed baitcaster. Length is 6'10", suitable for point casting for Barramundi using big paddle tail soft-plastics.
The middle rod is a single handed spin rod grip for your bream and bass style fishing.
The third is a grip on the S10, a 4-10kg Spinrod used for Snapper fishing, Tuna chasing etc. with soft-plastics.
The top and bottom rodz are from "The BeaR" range.

I hope this helps answer your question.
